About Zoe

"I live in a house of birds .."
Zoe Spencer is a self-taught artist and musician living in remote Mid-Wales. She works across a variety of mediums, from watercolour to oils, painting the hares, owls and wild places around her home near Llanidloes, and the myths that run through the Welsh hills alongside them. She shows work at The Micro Gallery, her gallery space in Mid-Wales.
There's no formal training behind the work, and no artificial ingredients either. Just watercolour, patience, and paying close attention to the animals and land she lives among.
Painting isn't the only thread. Zoe is also a musician, recording as Zoe Spencer Sound. Folk musician Andrew Hawkey, who has performed alongside her, put it this way:
"Zoe's untamed approach is just hugely refreshing... she sings and writes with the same joy and abandon as she paints. It's like being plugged into the mains."
